INCOVA technology is similar to the engine technology revolution during the early 1980’s when engine control moved to fuel injection. The market required a dramatic improvement in fuel control for emissions and efficiency. The carburetor had become complicated, expensive, and could not meet the emissions and efficiency targets. Conventional hydraulic valves are similar to the carburetor since dramatic improvements in efficiency and maintaining controllability are required, but not possible with conventional hydraulic valves. To make dramatic fuel control improvements, feedback sensors were added to the engine (oxygen and atmospheric sensors), independent control was added (fuel injectors) and advanced control software was developed to optimally control the fuel injectors. INCOVA is very similar.
